Dr Alexander Yeates - MBBS, FRACS (Urol)

Dr Yeates is a urological surgeon with interests in clinical and surgical intervention for urological cancers, stones and incontinence.

 

Dr Yeates attained both his Bachelor of Science and MBBS degrees from the University of Queensland. He completed his internship and resident years in hospitals throughout Queensland and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (Urology) in 2017 after training in Queensland and New South Wales. 


He has held public appointments as a consultant Urologist at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital, Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital as well as at Rockhampton Base Hospital. He is also accredited to work as a private consultant at Mater Hospital Mackay, Mater Hospital Gladstone, Mater Misericordiae Rockhampton, Sunnybank Private Hospital and Greenslopes Private Hospital. 


Dr Yeates has a broad interest in treating Urological issues including kidney, bladder and prostate cancer, as well as benign conditions such as prostate enlargement, incontinence and kidney stones.

Arranging your first appointment 

  

Once your GP has sent our offices your referral, Dr Yeates will assess your case and we will contact you via telephone to arrange an appointment. For this purpose, please ensure your GP has your best contact number.





 What to bring to your first appointment 


  • Medicare card
  • Private health insurance details
  • Pension Card
  • Veterans Affairs Card
  • List of medicines you take including prescription medications, over the counter medications and supplements
  • Any ultrasound, CT scans and blood test results
  • Support person if you wish
  • Please wear comfortable clothing which is easy to remove
  • Please wear enclosed, non-slip shoes
  • Please bring any walking devices you require
  • Please wear your hearing aids and glasses if needed  



 What to bring to hospital 

 

  •  Please ensure you have showered on the morning of your procedure. Do not use any powders or moisturisers (deodorant is acceptable)
  • Do not apply make-up 
  • Remove nail polish
  • Remove as much jewellery as possible 
  • Please only bring essential items and items which fit into a carry-on travel-sized case
  • Do not bring valuables or large amounts of cash as the hospital cannot take responsibility for them while you are having your procedure
  • Medicare card
  • Private health insurance details
  • DVA card
  • Pension/concession card
  • Safety Net card or Seniors Health card
  • GP details
  • Relevant xrays and scans
  • Wear comfortable clothing which is easy to remove



Additional requirements for overnight stays:


  • All current medication
  • Essential equipment for sleeping (CPAP)
  • Loose, comfortable clothing to wear during the day and sleep wear for overnight
  • Toiletries
  • Non-slip footwear
  • Any health aids (hearing aids, glasses, walking aids)
  • Please ensure you have organised for someone to take you to and from the hospital and that their details have been registered with our office and the hospital
  • Please ensure you have organised to have someone stay with you after you go home
  • Please ensure your home is looked after while you are in hospital
